Description
An augmented reality application that allows you to scan specific book pages to open a VR video or access 12 short games, such as a quiz, a puzzle where you rebuild the brain by moving its pieces in order, a game where you relate each mental process to a part of the brain, and more.
Each game was designed to take advantage of handheld augmented reality. The image recognition worked seamlessly without the need for any QR codes or markers, using real-time image processing instead.
This project was developed in Unity to reach a larger audience of Android and iPhone users. The company already had expertise in Unreal Engine rather than Unity, but the project was built before the Fortnite optimizations that significantly improved Unreal Engine’s performance on mobile devices.
The app is no longer available due to the end of support.
Role
The entire project was developed by one artist and one programmer. I developed all the games, designed the game architecture, handled both AR and VR interactions with the system and the different platform APIs, created various shaders and VFX to enrich the experience, and managed the app publishing to stores.
